How about paying $5 million for a doll? Or $2.1 million for a teddy bear? Here are five of the most expensive toys in the world, some of which have been donated to museums, so put your wallet back in your pocket.

AOL.com reports that according to a study by the Toy Industry Association, the average amount American parents spend on toys for their kids is $6 500. Interestingly most kids play with the boxes and packaging as much as they do with the toys. Legos were named as the most favourite toys.
NPD.com reports that US toy sales grew by five percent in 2016 to more than $20.4 billion. Collectibles grew to $1.8 billion in sales. Other important categories include outdoor and sports toys; games/puzzles; dolls; plush (stuffed animals and cuddly toys); infant/toddler preschool toys; and youth electronics.

Steiff Louis Vuitton Teddy Bear – $2.1 million
Teddy bears have been cherished toys for more than a century. Their charm extends for a lifetime as clearly illistrated by Mr. Bean and Teddy. Famous German toy maker Steiff’s Louis Vuittion teddy bear holds the record for the most expensive toy of this type. It has its own range of Louis Vuitton travel gear and luggage is made with real fur and gold, and has diamond and sapphire eyes. It is currently displayed at the Teddy Bear Museuem in Jeju, South Korea.
Golden Monopoly – $2 million
This versions of the popular board game Monopoly is estimated to be worth $2 million. It is made of 18 carat gold and encrusted with jewels. Made by the San Francisco jewellery designer Sidney Mobell in 1988, he donated it to the Smithsonian Museum in 2003. Mobell spent a whole year making the game. The number dots on the set of dice are made with 42 full-cut diamonds. Properties in the game board are set in a total of 165 gemstones. The hotels are topped with sapphires and the house chimneys with rubies.
The Masterpiece Cube Rubik’s Cube – $1.5 million
You can buy an ordinary Rubik’s cube for about $3 online. But if you’re a diehard aficionado of this toy and flaunt a fat wallet, you can consider investing $1.5 million in the Masterpiece Rubik’s Cube. This is a fully functional toy, with each side embellished with 185 carats of precious gems including rubies, emeralds and amethysts. Expert diamond cutter Fred Cueller crafted this masterpiece to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Rubik’s Cube in 1995. The toy is made of 18 carat gold and instead of stickers each side has 34 carats of rubies, 34 carats of emeralds and 22.5 carats of amethysts.
Stefano Canturi Barbie or Diamond Barbie – $302,500
Australian jewellery designer Stefano Canturi designed the most expensive Barbie ever. Diamond Barbie sports a black strapless evening dress and a choker necklace with a one-carat, square-cut pink diamond. The necklace alone is worth $300 000. The doll fetched $302 500 at an auction in 2010 and the proceeds were donated for breast cancer research. The previous record for the most expensive Barbie was $17,091, sold in 2006.
